The foundations of the Dune-du-Nord wind farm are now built in the Magdalen Islands! With a capacity of 6.4 MW, it will supply more than 15% of the electrical energy consumed on the islands and it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions produced by the Cap-aux-Meules thermal power station by more than 17,000 tons of CO2 eq., while significantly reducing the electrical energy production costs. It is the first wind farm in an isolated network in Quebec that truly comes from its host community. For its 1st wind project in Canada, Valeco is in partnership with the Régie intermunicipale de l’énergie Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Plan A Capital.
